Alternatives to Google

Nowadays, our lives seem tied to the well-known search engine company: Google. Its presence appears in our mobile operating system, the searches we perform online, and our GPS. Or rather, we leave traces in its products, as they use all our data to keep us attached and offer us new products.

However, it is possible to break free from the chains that tie us to the Mountain View giant without sacrificing top quality—both professionally and in personal day-to-day life. Microsoft Dynamics users already know that the company founded by Bill Gates offers alternatives to almost every Google product; moreover, it provides various services that deliver superior value compared to the competition: Dynamics, Office, Windows, LinkedIn, GitHub, etc.

Below, we offer several alternatives to Google so you have options to choose from.

Search Engine

Google’s most well-known product is its internet search engine. Without a doubt, it is a high-quality search engine that provides a large number of results in record time.

Microsoft Alternative: Bing is the main competitor to Google Search, with very similar capabilities, though it is used by far fewer people… and rewards!

Other Alternatives to Google: Two search engines have managed to carve out a significant niche. DuckDuckGo, which does not store any user data, and Ecosia, the eco-friendly search engine that plants trees based on searches.

Browser

Google Chrome is one of the main web browsing tools and currently the market leader. It offers high performance, although competition has caught up significantly in recent times.

Microsoft Alternative: After leading the sector with Internet Explorer, Microsoft reinvented browsers with Edge. It is undoubtedly a top-tier option.

Other Alternatives to Google: There are numerous browsers on the market, but the leading trio is completed by Mozilla Firefox—a fast, secure, open-source browser with extensive functionality.

Email

In recent years, Gmail has dominated the free email space, but its capabilities are somewhat limited in a professional environment.

Microsoft Alternative: Within the unbeatable Office suite, Outlook is the most powerful and widely used enterprise email solution in the world.

Other Alternatives to Google: The classic alternative is Yahoo, though its future remains uncertain.

Documents

As with email, we can use Google Docs with Drive to create and share work in text documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.

Microsoft Alternative: Office 365 is Microsoft’s flagship productivity suite with no direct competition. It includes well-known applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

Other Alternatives to Google: None exist to the same extent. You can store documents in Dropbox, for example, but it does not include creation tools.

Notes

Google Keep allows you to create, save, and share notes to organize information, whether by text, image, or voice.

Microsoft Alternative: Within Office, OneNote serves a similar purpose to Keep, with the added advantage of being part of the productivity suite.

Other Alternatives to Google: Perhaps the most well-known, and even pioneering, is Evernote.

Maps

Google Maps is one of the most recognized geolocation and mapping systems. It has an impressive database and several interesting features, such as StreetView.

Microsoft Alternative: Similar to the search engine, Bing Maps offers comparable functionality and can easily replace Google Maps.

Other Alternatives to Google: It is worth checking out OpenStreetMap, a community-built mapping platform. However, the most reliable alternative (used by car manufacturers) is Here WeGo.
